Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

PAT Testing Portable electrical equipment - a best practice approach.

The use of Portable Electrical Equipment is a common requirement in the workplace.

They are all potential safety hazards and therefore controls and safeguards need to be put in place to deal with associated risks.

The degree of maintenance (including inspection and testing) varies for each country with national legislation and codes of practice.

PAT Testing was introduced to enable companies to comply with the legislation.

Employers are responsible under law, for the safety of their employees.

You must take all reasonable care that your employees work in a safe environment and use safe equipment.

The relevant regulations are:

 -The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (Northern ireland, 1991);
 -The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 - Regulation 81 for The Republic of Ireland.

We use the latest Seaward technology by the leading manufactures and use software to enable and continuously improve.

Ampion offer a national service in the self delivery of PAT Testing. We ensure that all portable equipment is tested regularly at a frequency applicable to the customer's site and will advise on any associated risk. To eliminate any concern about appliances being out of date we will schedule sites when a test is due on a yearly basis.

Why not contact us now for a quick portable appliance testing quotation for your organisation. Our quotations are fully inclusive of:

All work carried out on a date/time that suits you and your team. While PAT testing is not overly intrusive we understand that sometimes it is easier to carry out the work during quieter days or evenings/weekends*. Our scheduling team will offer a slot to work around production and minimise any downtime. *An out of hours may apply which will always be included in our quotation up front.

We will endeavour to test all portable appliances, moving from location to location until completion. If we are unable to test an item we will try our best to get back to that item/user and if the appliance is free we will test it. Of course, if there are specific items only to be tested, or items you would prefer are not included in the testing just let our engineers know upon arrival.

Details RAMS if required can be supplied when scheduling.

Full asset register of all equipment tested, its location, test outcome and a faulty equipment register will be emailed on completion.

If practical we will repair faulty connections at plug tops or leads, including replacement plugs to sleeved type if necessary and fuses to correct rating.

We cover all of Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. An engineer is never too far away and we can normally accommodate a call out same-day.
